Ashish Sharma, MD, is an experienced neurosurgeon who specializes in the treatment of all manner of spinal ailments, ranging from trauma and degenerative arthritic processes to scoliosis and spinal deformity. Dr. Sharma believes in putting the patient first: any and all treatments should be tailored to the patient’s needs and wishes. This outcome can only be achieved with excellent rapport stemming from a close patient-surgeon relationship. As such, he treats every patient as he would his friends or loved ones.
Dr. Sharma spent the early years of his life in Edmonton, Alberta, before moving with his family to Huntsville, AL where he attended the University of Alabama. He then finished his undergraduate degree at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI where he continued his medical journey at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He went on to complete a neurosurgery residency at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, MD where he also completed a combined orthopaedic and neurological surgery fellowship specializing in both minimally invasive surgery and complex deformity correction.
During his career, Dr. Sharma has been involved in both basic science and clinical research with many publications in the field of Neurosurgery. He has always maintained a strong passion for teaching and has mentored many medical students and junior residents both in and out of the operating room. He has passed his ABNS written examination and is a board-eligible neurosurgeon.
During his training, the pursuit of Neurosurgery came about as a natural evolution of a desire to bond with and help his patients. Seeing the tremendous personal and societal cost of spinal pathology has served as a motivating force to help his patients.
When he is not at work, Dr. Sharma loves to spend time with his wife, Amy, family and Pomeranian, BooBoo. He is a fan of cooking (and eating!), exercising, and watching movies. He is very excited to make Arizona his home as he continues his journey to help his patients live their best lives.
